Museum of Art and Religious Tradition in Tilcara

Hidden away in the heart of Tilcara, the Museum of the Hermitages offers a unique experience that blends art, faith, and the folk culture of the Quebrada de Humahuaca. The works it houses—known as ermitas—are large panels, traditionally crafted with natural elements such as flowers, seeds, and colored earth, depicting scenes from the Stations of the Cross and episodes from the Christian life. These pieces, born from an ancestral custom of the region, are displayed in an adobe room that reflects the traditional Andean construction style.
